Ecological New Words: Linguistic Realization of the Concept “Environment” in The Language

摘要

The article highlights the problem of new words related to environmental issues. It demonstrates an overview on the problem of ecology-related new words which are reflected in the English language. The word-formation models according to which these on words related to environmental topics. The increase in their number is associated with growing environmental problems. In connection with the growing scientific and technological revolution, at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, humanity was faced with problems such as environmental pollution and the negative impact of humans on the natural resources of the planet. All the natural components of the environment have undergone changes to one degree or another. As a result, many environmental new words have appeared and continue to appear in various languages, for example: eco-conscious, eco-speak, ecotourism, eco-refugee, etc. Moreover, today the words “ecology”, “environment”, “sustainability” have become the most widely used terms used not only by scientists, but also by economists, politicians, journalists and specialists from various sectors of the industrial and social spheres. Ecological new words are actively being introduced into media discourse and are used in oral and written speech in different languages and countries. The main job of this article to overview the problems of new words related to environmental issues, to analyze these problems and try to find the ways to solve them.
