Renewable Energy in Azerbaijan: Opportunities and Obstacles

The article analyzes the potential of wind, hydro, solar, and biological energy from renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan and the current state of their use, and examines directions for improving legislation in the field of use of renewable energy sources. As the share of renewables in energy production and supply in Azerbaijan is very low, it does not correspond with the renewable energy goals and potential of the country. The implementation of a fundamental energy transition requires extensive use of renewable energy sources. To achieve international climate goals, it is necessary to remove barriers, ensure integration into the energy system, and rapidly increase renewable energy and energy efficiency. In the article, some proposals are put forward in the direction of expanding the use of renewable energy sources in the country.
