Introduction
摘要
This chapter elaborates on the concept of a “frontier” in statistical analysis and how it relates to regression models. It then presents examples where a two-tier stochastic frontier model (2TSF) arises naturally as a modeling choice. We also narrate the origins of the model based on discussions with the scholars who first proposed it in the literature, and we offer a selective review of published 2TSF studies to showcase its flexibility and applicability across social sciences.
