Concerns about anthropogenic disturbances to soils have led to concerns about reversing degraded soils. This has led to studies on the floristic composition and phytosociological structure of species that can be used to recover degraded soils, such as species from the Fabaceae family. This study aimed to survey the biodiversity of Fabaceae in a floodplain area in Oriximiná-Pará and the potential use of species for recovering degraded soils. Important phytosociological values were observed, demonstrating the diversity of Fabaceae in the study area. Nine species were found in the survey, but in the literature only Cassia leiandra Benth., Campsiandra laurifolia Benth. and Bergeronia Sericea Micheli are mentioned for use in recovering degraded areas. However, the species were predominant Zygia latifolia var. communis and Albizia subdimidiata Barneby & J. W. Grimes in the area studied, emphasising the importance of future studies into the importance of these species in soil recovery. In the granulometric analysis, plots 2 and 4 showed a predominantly sedimentary nature in floodplain soil, while plots 1 and 3 did not follow the pattern, which can be explained by anthropogenic action. In the analysis of pH and exchangeable aluminium, in the 4 study plots, it was possible to identify that the pH result stood out as soil with high acidity and exchangeable aluminium (Al+3) at a high level (acid). The soil in the study area is considered to be of low fertility, and the pH and Al+3 values are harmful to plant growth. Finally, there was a shortage of floristic surveys of Fabaceae carried out in the Oriximiná-PA region, so more studies should be carried out in order to reduce this degree of data scarcity, to increase publications of floristic surveys in the region in question and serve to draw up a list of regional species in a given area that can contribute to restoration strategies.
