We motivate the study of systems of interacting Boson, focusing on three aspects: such systems exist in nature, they exhibit non-trivial physical behavior, and require the development of new and interesting mathematics. We also introduce and motivate Lieb’s Simplified approach. We then give an outline of the rest of this book.
