Anterior shoulder instability is common in the pediatric and adolescent population, especially among patients between 14–17 years old enrolled in contact sports. With the rise of adolescent sports participation, there has been a concomitant increase in the prevalence of shoulder instability. Moreover, several studies have shown decreased rates of recurrent instability and improved outcomes in patients initially treated with surgical procedures. Given the increased incidence of anterior shoulder instability in the young, active population along with recognition of the potential need for surgical intervention following a primary dislocation, the number of arthroscopic stabilization procedures has increased over the past decade. The arthroscopic Bankart repair has shown good short-term clinical and functional outcomes, but high rates of recurrence have been observed in the long-term, especially in young population. These failure rates have led to a shift of increasing remplissage and Latarjet in the adolescent athlete. Both procedures have shown to be effective in the teenage population, in terms of restoring stability and return to sports.

摘要
