Design for Additive Manufacturing for Lattice Structures

Using digital data, additive manufacturing builds objects layer by layer. These days, additive manufacturing technologies are fully developed and applied in many different industrial sectors. Including many advantages such as mass reduction, design flexibility, waste minimization, and quick prototyping with a large range of materials choice. Lattice structures have emerged as a powerful tool for achieving optimized designs in various industries, such as aerospace, automotive, and medical fields. This paper focuses on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) strategies for lattice structures. It discusses trends, challenges, and methodologies involved in designing for AM, including practical guidelines for material selection, structural optimization, and mechanical testing of lattice structures in order to advance the understanding of DfAM of lattice structures to maximize the benefits of additive manufacturing.
