This chapter aims to give the reader an overview of the technological options for various organic waste composting. Without conclusions on the merits of one system versus another, multiple systems are discussed. The selection of a particular system or technology by a group of societies or organisations may rely on many factors. The following dual explanations are set out for this compost system design: (1) the appropriate environmentally and economically reasonable composting conditions are provided, and (2) the form and size of the compost system, as well as other aspects of technology, are determined by the form, the quantity, the amount of waste, and the size of the buffer zone available.
