Bilateral diffuse uveal melanocytic proliferation (BDUMP) is a rare paraneoplastic disease that occurs in patients with systemic malignancy, such as cancers of the ovary, uterus, lung, pancreas, and breast. It results in bilateral, painless visual loss with diffuse uveal thickening and pigmentary changes of the fundus in patients with systemic malignancies. The abnormal melanocytes are usually spindle in shape with rare, scattered epithelioid cells and can involve the whole uvea. Ocular examination shows multiple pigmented and nonpigmented tumors, serous retinal detachment, and rapidly progressive cataracts. As with other paraneoplastic retinopathies, BDUMP has no effective treatment, and the systemic prognosis is poor.
