The Internet of Things (IoT) has the potential to revolutionize industries and society by connecting previously unconnected devices and generating valuable insights. However, the lack of a global reference standard for syntactic IoT interoperability has resulted in a proliferation of local IoT silos, with each vendor having its own incompatible solution. To address this issue, we propose an architecture based on the RESTful architectural style, which enables syntactic interoperability within and between IoT systems. Our architecture is modular and can be customized based on the specific use-case and design of an IoT system. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed architecture in a smart home scenario using various connectivity patterns. Our approach can help to achieve complete perception and situational awareness by enabling information sharing from every sensing device.
