This study presents preliminary findings from a comprehensive exploration of the potential adoption of green roofs among property owners across urban areas, focusing on two representative districts in Eindhoven (the Netherlands) comparing them to the average adoption rate for the city in general. The research employs socioeconomic analysis to understand the nuanced factors influencing acceptance levels. Through the characterization and analysis of these areas, a general comparative analysis is conducted, leading to the formulation of conclusions that highlight the potential levels of adoption in each district. The study draws on established adoption models, particularly the diffusion of innovations (DoI) theory, using the ADOPT tool to structure its investigation. Preliminary results reveal patterns across the districts, shedding light on the diverse determinants of acceptance and the varying potential for green roof adoption. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamics surrounding green roof adoption in urban settings. To enhance the practical applicability of the research, the study concludes with reccomendations of general points aimed at improving the level of adoption in each district. These recommendations address specific characteristics and challenges identified in comparative analyses. As the research progresses, these preliminary findings pave the way for a more refined and conclusive understanding of green roof adoption in Eindhoven, facilitating targeted interventions for sustainable urban development.
