Despite the fact that spatial abilitiesSpatial abilities are referred to in Greek Kindergarten Curriculum, they are not combined with the provision of appropriate teaching interventionsTeaching interventions, teaching material, or proper teacher training. In our previous research, we found that teaching so far has not resulted in an effective improvement of spatial abilitiesSpatial abilities. An intervention was planned for this purpose and two large-scale giant maps with dimensions of 3 × 4 m were created, a map of the city of Mytilene with a scale of 1:1000, and a map of Lesvos Island with a scale of 1:20,000. The sample was 56 kindergarten pupilsKindergarten pupils (28 boys and 28 girls) aged 4 to 6 years old. Children’s knowledge and abilities were tested using a questionnaire before and after the intervention, with the help of kindergarten teachers who wrote the answers as children of this age do not know how to read and write. The findings show that early spatial intervention in kindergarten leads to a significant improvement in pupils’ spatial abilitiesSpatial abilities according to the goals set by the curriculum. The improvement was significant regardless of gender and grade (1st or 2nd year in kindergarten). There was a remarkable improvement in total score and in all questions after the teaching interventionTeaching interventions.
