Education in Socio-economic Geography in Poland as a Response to the Needs of the Labour Market

Education is one of the basic factors supporting socio-economic developmentDevelopment and the developmentDevelopment of the knowledge-based economy because it ensures the inflow of qualified employees to the labour marketLabour market. Therefore, it is particularly important to select the education content and methods of its implementation. This is essential in order to effectively achieve the assumed goals and prepare young people to be able to meet the needs of the modern labour marketLabour market, shaping the expected competencesCompetences, e.g. creativity or critical thinking skills. The aim of this article is to present the content of education in the field of socio-economic geographySocio-economic geography. in primary and secondary schools in Poland included in the applicable national core curriculum of the subject of geography and to assess the adequacy of this content to the expectations set by employers. I will strive to answer the following questions: what is the role of geographical educationGeographical education in preparing a young person to enter the labour marketLabour market, but also to what extent is school education in the field of socio-economic geographySocio-economic geography. adjusted to the employees’ expectations towards graduates of schools functioning today and in the future. When preparing the article, the following research methods were used: query and analysis of the literature on the subject of the research, content analysis and analysis of the existing data (desk research).
