The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) has outlined four core competencies for interprofessional collaborative practice, emphasizing values, ethics, roles, responsibilities, communication, and teamwork. The unique characteristics of IPE simulations, as distinguished from single-profession simulations, lie in their objectives, content, and learner interactions, with a focus on interdisciplinary teamwork, communication, and shared decision-making. In addition to considering key differences, successful IPE simulations involve interdisciplinary collaboration in scenario development, pre-briefing on collaboration, and dedicated debriefing sessions. The benefits of IPE simulations include improved patient safety, enhanced interdisciplinary understanding, realistic skill application, and professional networking. Despite its advantages, IPE simulation faces challenges such as scheduling conflicts and logistical issues, requiring institutional commitment and innovative solutions for long-term success.
