Exploring the Use of GeoGebra Software in Teaching Stereometry at Primary Schools: An Action Research Study
摘要
Investigating the use of digital technologies, including GeoGebra software, in mathematics education is crucial for enhancing teaching methods and improving student engagement. The integration of digital tools with constructivist teaching methods, such as the Hejny method, which has been successfully employed in many schools across the Czech and Slovak Republics for approximately 20 years, presents a promising challenge. This approach is particularly important for today’s primary school students, who belong to Generation Alpha and are inherently familiar with digital environments. This article presents the results of action research examining the implementation of an online GeoGebra Book in primary school mathematics teaching. The GeoGebra Book, developed using AR GeoGebra, was created as part of a diploma thesis. The study primarily focuses on action research through a pilot verification of the GeoGebra Book in the classroom, utilizing qualitative research methods to address the research problem and questions, including semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The study highlights the implementation process and evaluates the outcomes of integrating GeoGebra with the Hejny method. The results offer recommendations and conclusions on using GeoGebra software to enhance students’ mathematical literacy and motivation, as well as a detailed description of the interactions between students, teachers, and the digital environment in primary school mathematics education.
