Dramatic changes in family life and structure throughout the world in the post-World War II era have been described and explained by scholars from various fields. Economists have looked at family formation, fertility choices, and family dysfunctions of differing types and in great detail. As a group, there has been an emphasis on providing descriptions and explanations for later ages of first marriage, lower fertility rates, and for rising and then declining divorce rates. This book will introduce a new explanatory variable, namely, the inflation culture, which has its roots in an inflationary monetary policy that has prevailed throughout the globe since the mid-twentieth century.
