Intercultural Training for Primary Teachers in CLIL Contexts: Challenges and Action Proposals
摘要
This chapter argues for the need of boosting intercultural communicative competence (ICC) training in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) teacher education programs. A close review of the scholarly work particularly conducted in the Spanish teaching context shows the weakness in the implementation of the intercultural axis in bilingual education contexts. The present work examines some of the most significant reasons for this situation and presents an ad hoc combination of teacher training practices for the integration of ICC into CLIL, which have proven to be effective in a master’s degree program for pre-primary and primary educators. This chapter contributes to the convergence of foreign language research, the teaching profession, and CLIL teacher education.
