AntimonyAntimony is a critical metalCritical metals because of its significant roles in the development of critical engineering components. However, its primary oreOre deposits are scarce. The solubility test carried out on Ondo tar sand, Nigeria, with toluene gave 66% sand residue at 99.41% recovery of bitumen. The X-ray fluorescence analysis of the sand waste gave the percentage assays of antimonyAntimony, aluminum, silicon, sulphur, titanium, iron, and tin as 1.78, 1.65, 49.89, 0.43, 0.86, 0.24, and 1.90, respectively. Particle size analysis gave the cumulative percentage undersize as 89.97 for the −355 + 212 µm size fraction, while the median size was found to be 266.7 µm. The results of the analysis show that quartzQuartz is the main gangue mineralMinerals and gangue in the oreOre and it further suggests that the main valuable minerals are compounds of antimonyAntimony, titanium, and tin.
