Previously, in the Relation of Being, relationship was a function of the differentiated oneness of an opposition in being, and so as negative connection. Now, in the Relation of Thinking, which I consider in this chapter, relationship is self-equivalence, pure self-connection, and so its own self-reflection. We are now able to articulate the social relation of universal to particular in terms of a new language of self-positioning, something to which Kant, who possessed and in some sense even created the language, never himself acceded. Hegel asserts that the universal is to be found immediately in the form of the particular, and universality is the determinacy of the particular reflected in the particular. Here the language of reflection replaces the language of form, and this new language allows us to articulate the logical status of the determinate concept. This innovation yields progressive accounts of the concept, judgment and syllogism.

摘要
