The Emergence of Asia: The Case of Singapore
摘要
This chapter presents a case study on Singapore. Guided by the visionary leadership of Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore strategically used human capital to move from being a third world country in the 1960s to one of the most advanced countries in the world today. The case study highlights how the different phases of the economic and social growth of Singapore were wrapped around human capital development. This chapter also presents some of the human capital development programs that were, and continue to be, undertaken by Singapore to ensure that the country continues to acquire, accumulate, develop, and utilize human capital for sustained economic growth and development.
