An Assessment of AI-Powered Scarecrows Guarding Against Crop Vandalism
摘要
Animal attacks causing crop damage is one of the main factors affecting crop production reduction. Local animals including buffalos, cows, and goats, as well as wild creatures like bears, monkeys, wild pigs, elephants, and several other birds like sparrows, crows, and pigeons, frequently break crops on farms. These might seriously harm crops, resulting in significant losses for the producers. Building physical barriers around the entire field and keeping an eye on it is challenging for the field owners. The majority of the current systems rely on observation. Farmers respond to animals by acting in accordance with their entry. Other methods farmers employ to stop animals from destroying their crops include building barricades, installing electrical fences, and conducting physical surveillance. In order to deter animals or birds, farmers also place human puppets in the midst of fields. Therefore, we present an AI-based scarecrow that uses a camera to scan the area and identify stray animals or birds. It subsequently sounds an animal extermination alarm to safeguard the crops from any threats. We create a program that uses the Yolov3, Coco names, and CV2 modules to recognize objects in real-time video. It guarantees that crops are completely safe from creatures that could harm them.
