Adoption of Digital Transformation in the Insurance Business of Bangladesh: A Quantitative Study from the Perspective of Customers
摘要
The effects of digitization on society’s norms and values, the service sector’s business operations, the country’s financial system, and its economic development are profound. This research aimed to investigate the level of digitalization in Bangladesh’s insurance sector. Questionnaires were used to conduct this investigation. To learn more about the current status of digital adoption in the Bangladeshi insurance sector, questionnaires were created for the clients of insurance companies. However, some ICT-related services were executed above average, like text message alerts for insurance premium payments, information about policy, information regarding claim, insurance premium payment through the Internet, and claim intimation. The analysis of client responses shows that Bangladesh’s adoption of information and communication technologies in the insurance business is below average. On the other hand, it is discovered that the uptake of services, including online policy purchases, accessing policies and claim details, and making claim payments directly to the bank, is below average. In comparison, roughly 82% of insurance customer respondents indicated they would like to purchase coverage utilizing a digital platform. This demonstrates that to meet client expectations, Bangladeshi insurance companies still have a long way to go regarding digitization. Our examination of the data led us to conclude that the insurance regulatory authorities of Bangladesh should encourage insurance companies to become digital. To effectively service their huge online consumer base, insurance companies in Bangladesh should connect with their clients using the appropriate digital platforms.
