Concrete mixtures were prepared, incorporating pulverized soda lime Waste GlassWaste glass (WG) and a blend of Portland cement and Rice Husk AshRice Husk Ash (RHA) as binders. Different levels of RHA replaced cement to assess its effectiveness in controlling Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR). The effect of RHA and WG on the durability properties of the concrete was determined using the South African Durability IndexDurability Index Method. Results indicated a reduction of about 52% and 33% in chloride conductivityChloride conductivity and oxygen permeabilityOxygen permeability index respectively. Concrete containing a high percentage of RHA has the ability to considerably decrease CCL values, indicating an increased ability to resist chloride ion transport in the concrete. The optimal replacement level of 12.5% RHA can be suitable for structural concrete. It is recommended that the developed concrete should be applied in areas where resistance to chloride ion penetration is needed.
