By exploring one Hebrew term, this chapter relates to questions of prophecy and pluralism. The word is employed in rabbinic literature to distinguish Moses from the rest of the prophets, and it bears several different interpretations: aspaklaria can mean a screen or a mirror, a lens or a perspective. This chapter suggests that multiple perspectives offer the best chance of attaining depth of vision. Judaism is presented as a set of aspaklariot, ways of understanding reality for the sake of responding to it.
