Crowdfunding as an Alternative Means for Financing Culture and Creative Industries in Serbia
摘要
The chapter analyses news investment principles created through crowdfunding means for financing culture and creative industries in Serbia. It considers the historical development of crowdfunding as a model of financing culture and creative industries, as well as its characteristics. The second part analyses the financial models of CCIs in Serbia and the application of different crowdfunding methods—rewards-based, crowd-investing, donation crowdfunding, and debt crowdfunding and different stages of establishing crowdfunding practices. The paper analyses three different models of crowdfunding platforms—ventu.rs, donacije.rs, and dobridabar.com—their specificities as well as the success factors of campaigns, and how creative firms could monetise their financial sustainability actions. The examples analyzed in the chapter show that the model of platforms for crowdinvesting is more successful than the reward-based model in Serbia. The reason for that may be a low level of philanthropy and overall culture of donating to socially relevant projects, but also low public awareness of the projects that deserve support. Most of the platforms are not based on the creation of a more loyal relationship between the donor and the platform but on the relationship at the level of each fundraiser (initiated project), which does not allow crowdfunding platforms to develop in the long term. To improve this type of alternative financing, it is necessary to develop a specialised platform for financing projects in the fields of culture and creative industries and work on its promotion.
