Managing waste generated by discarded plastic goods, particularly those used for packaging applications, has become difficult without an adequate waste collection and segregation mechanism. Overall, a technology-driven collaborative supply chain of virgin and recycled material is required for India to establish an accountable, quality-assured, and collaborative circular economy for the uses of plastic. To assess the most effective course of action for managing garbage in Indian conditions, this article presents an overview of resource recovery from plastic waste and its utilization. The paper also sheds some light on the role of digitization in plastic waste management and the economic feasibility of recycling plastic waste.
