Contemporary Approach to Surgical Management of Patella Fractures
摘要
The principles of patella fracture treatment are functional restoration of knee extension power and restoring congruity of the articular surfaces of the patella. Fracture patterns are highly variable and require different fixation techniques specific to the injury pattern. Common techniques include open reduction internal fixation with screws, plates, and/or cerclage wiring or limited patellectomy with patellar tendon advancement. Due to the tenuous nature of the vascular supply to the patella and limited soft tissue overlying the patella, emphasis is placed on minimizing soft tissue disruption and preservation of biology.
