A Simulation Model to Determine Production Shifts for Pallet Packaging
摘要
Industries need to meet the needs and requirements of their customers to maintain their position in the current economic context. This reflects the need for dynamism in the factory’s internal operations, especially in internal logistics. The system studied consists of the transportation, wrapping of pallets and packaging of the various products of an adhesive tape factory. The aim is to computer simulate a project focused on selecting a scenario for palletizing finished products that closely aligns with the factory’s reality changing the effective number of shifts needed to pack pallets, thereby preventing productivity loss. The construction of the computer simulation model was preceded by a conceptual model containing all the significant data to reproduce the behavior of the real system. This logic model was then reflected in the Flexsim software, whose logic construction method is detailed in this study. With the results generated by the model, it was possible to conclude that the most suitable approach for aligning scenario with the factory’s reality is to implement a two-shift schedule for the packaging department and expanding the storage area is imperative to effectively fulfill pallet packaging.
