Challenges and Opportunities in Sustainable Lithium Production: Integrating Lithium Wastes into Civil Construction
摘要
This review explores recent opportunities and challenges in lithium hydroxide production, focusing on incorporating lithium refinery wastes into construction industry. The growing demand for lithium-ion batteries has led to a substantial increase in lithium production, subsequently generating significant quantities of lithium refinery wastes. Efficient and sustainable management and treatment of these wastes is crucial to minimizing environmental impacts. This article analyzes current methods for lithium hydroxide production, highlighting technological advances that improve efficiency and reduce waste generation. Furthermore, the review explores the potential of reusing lithium refinery wastes in civil construction, assessing the feasibility, benefits, and challenges of this approach. Incorporating these wastes into construction materials not only provides a sustainable waste management solution but also enhances the properties of construction products, with a view on sustainability. The discussion covers different techniques for incorporation, material performance, and environmental implications. By reviewing recent research and case studies, this article aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of the connection between lithium hydroxide production and waste valorization in civil construction, providing insights into future research directions and industrial applications.
