Project management in the energy sector has its own specificities related to the high complexity and scale of projects, as well as increased risk and uncertainty. These factors require the application of project management methodologies that ensure the consideration of multiple factors and the ability to respond flexibly to changes. This paper considers the classic stages of project management and project portfolio management, and analyses the applied project and project portfolio management methodologies. Taking into account the peculiarities and risks of project management in the energy sector, the use of multi-agent systems (MAS) in integrated project management is proposed. In this context, the principles of the operation of multi-agent systems and their advantages are considered. On this basis, a model of IT support for project activities at the portfolio management level is proposed, taking into account the relationship between IT systems, their services and relevant business processes, and the place of MAS in project portfolio management is outlined.
