This chapter provides developers and IT decision-makers in healthcare organizations with recommendations on how digital maturity models (DMM) can be developed, selected, and used for the continuous advancement and evaluation of digital maturity in hospitals. Therefore, nine requirements for the development and use of DMMs are formulated as a checklist for the selection of suitable DMMs. Furthermore, the Digital Quality Framework (DQF) is discussed, which represents a holistic indicator system for DMMs. Example indicators for monitoring maturity are provided for each of the nine strategic fields of action of the DQF.
