Nevertheless, the processing of ginger results in substantial quantities of by-products, such as rhizome peels, leaves, and stems, which are frequently underused or disposed of as refuse. This exploration delves into the potential valorization of ginger by-products as bioactive compounds and bioenergy reservoirs. The preamble accentuates ginger’s economic value and customary applications, underscoring the necessity for the sustainable exploitation of by-products. The chemical constitution of ginger by-products is deliberated, unveiling their abundance in bioactive compounds like gingerols, shogaols, paradols, zingerone, and phenolic compounds. These plant bioactive compounds have diverse biological and functional attributes, encompassing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties. The analysis further scrutinizes the conceivable uses of ginger by-product extractions and bioactive compounds in the culinary sector as natural preservatives, flavoring agents, and functional components. Moreover, their roles in nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, and pharmaceuticals are examined, spotlighting their remedial potential. In addition to health-related uses, the valorization of ginger by-products for non-food objectives, such as bioenergy generation.
