The pilotPilot testing of the novel gas scrubbingScrubbing technology termed Pot Integrated Abart (PIA) developed by REEL is currently being tested at Alcoa Mosjøen. The project has moved into continuous long-term testing. Results and findings from the trial runs during the spring and early summer of 2024 indicate good overall performance. The gas before and after the PIA was monitored by online and extractive analysis. It appeared that more than 99.5% of the incoming HF was adsorbed. VariationsVariations in the performance over time were followed. The impact that the PIA had on the associated electrolysis cell was monitored too by collecting key cell parameters such as fluorideFluoride concentration and fluorideFluoride additions. These results were then used to assess the dynamics of the fluorideFluoride balance between the cell and PIA.
