Degradation of Orange II Dye of Zn-Doped Copper Oxide Thin Films Deposited by Spin-Coating Method
摘要
This study focuses on investigating the structural, morphological, optical, and electrical characteristics of copper oxideCopper oxide (CuO) that has been dopedDoped with varying concentrations (x = 4%, 10% of zinc (Zn) by the utilization of sol–gel spin coating technique. The Cu1-xZnxO thin films underwent characterization using several analytical techniques, including X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV–visible spectrophotometry, and the four-point method. Based on the X-ray diffraction (XRD) findings, it can be observed that all of the films exhibit a polycrystalline structure, characterized by a range of crystallite sizes spanning from 24 to 45 nm. The FT-IR results prove that copper-oxygen bonds was formed. The enhanced capacitance is elucidated by the presence of Zn particles within CuO nanostructures, which results in a notable enhancement of electrical conductivity. The introduction of Zn impurity into copper oxideCopper oxide resulted in a substantial enhancement in its photocatalysis activityPhotocatalysis activity when thin films of CuO dopedDoped with 10%wt. Zn are used, the best degradation of a dye (Orange IIOrange II) reaches 28%.
