In Chap. 4 , we have seen that in order to achieve high performance of a programmable interconnect architecture, it is necessary to reduce the capacitive load on wires as much as possible. In the limit, the greatest reduction is obtained when a wire is used exclusively to connect a single pair of LUTs. Not only does this reduce capacitive load on the wire to the minimum, but it also allows a signal to avoid passing through multiple levels of stored-select multiplexers, that would be necessary if the direct connection between LUTs did not exist.

摘要
