This study investigates how Anglophone African writers use language choice, communicative means, and styles to cross the cultural divide and function in cross-cultural contexts. The study is informed by sociolinguistics, cultural, and postcolonial approaches. What has given rise to this research endeavor is the desire to unearth and assess how language emanates into an active tool of cultural nuance and transnational national flavor. The study also seeks to explore some of the challenges of cross-cultural communication and colonial concerns in Anglophone African literature. The objectives are realized through the examination of numerous contemporary literary texts belonging to various genres, topoi, and linguistic circles. To do so, we analyze how authors subvert linguistic apartheid and highlight diversity, and complexity by writing their texts in Indigenous languages, and dialects, and through translanguaging. We underlined the potential for literature to foster empathy across cultural differences by examining and evaluating the works of authors and how they communicate and represent their own cultural experiences and identities. The online platforms provide an interactive and dynamic opportunity to readers where they can participate in the interpretation of linguistic choices, cultural representations, and thematic elements. These interactions are the catalysts for cultural expression, conveying diasporic experiences to a global audience. Authors who identify as Anglophone African diasporics utilize new media tools in their creative processes, revealing a complex terrain of goals, problems, and motives. Authors who resist neo-colonial influences and have a strong cultural affirmation strive to strike a careful balance between appeal and authenticity for a broad global audience. In the context of modern Africa, this study is an effort to raise the discussion about the transformative potential of the literature to improve cross-cultural understanding and boost intercultural communication.
