The Concept of Placental Insufficiency
摘要
Currently, placental insufficiency is considered to be a syndrome caused by structural changes in it and characterized by the inability of the placenta to maintain an adequate exchange between the mother and fetus. Placental insufficiency occurs when the placenta fails to provide the fetus sufficient nutrients and secreted factors. A fundamentally important issue is the attitude to placental insufficiency as an independent symptom complex accompanying the underlying pathological condition. Functional failure of the placenta is the main cause of intrauterine hypoxia, fetal growth retardation, its damage during childbirth [1, 2].
