In vitro permeation testing (IVPT) is an excellent tool for evaluating the performance of topical products. IVPT studies are performed to study the impact of variation in the formulation’s composition or the influence of quality attributes on the product’s performance. IVPT is also an essential tool for demonstrating the bioequivalence of generic products with the reference product. The authors discuss their experiences and some dos and don’ts of IVPT topical products.
