When applied to the skin, the evaporation of solvents from the topical formulation will alter its composition and quality attributes. This change in the product characteristics could significantly impact its performance. The aim of this chapter is to give an overview of potential changes in the quality attributes due to solvent evaporation and its potential impact on drug absorption from topical formulations.
