摘要

Providing appropriate training and development opportunities is an essential responsibility of contemporary organizations and their leaders. Providing job-related training at the time an employee joins an organization and at appropriate times throughout their career with that organization is crucial in ensuring that an organization’s employees are prepared to fully contribute to the organization as they successfully enact their various roles and responsibilities. The successful onboarding of new employees should include appropriate orientation training programs designed to ensure that a new employee fully understands their roles and responsibilities and is prepared to successfully “hit the ground running” as they enact their roles and responsibilities. This initial training should be supplemented, as appropriate, with refresher training as well as training in new knowledge and skills areas, including the review of new or revised organizational policies and/or procedures. Visionary organizations and their leaders similarly recognize the importance of providing their employees opportunities to participate in professional development activities designed to enhance their knowledge and skills related to their current roles and responsibilities, as well as to prepare them for future opportunities within their organization.
