Measurement Results Comparison Between CMM Measuring and Geometry Scanning on the 3D Printing Product

This paper represents main differences of measurement results between CMM and measuring scanner on the 3D printed product. Depending on the applied measurement methodology and thus the amount of information for presenting the representative geometry of the measuring object, the analysis of the differences in measurement results can be used to reconsider the im-pact of layer-by-layer product manufacturing on dimension variations. The measurement differences between CMM and the scanned geometry were established as a consequence of the product fabrication in the layers and the amount of information used to obtain the results. Variations of the object dimensions in the printing direction have been inspected on scanned geometry and compared with obtained values from CMM which helps to under-stand the diversity of the obtained results.
