Railway transport plays an important role in the transportation system around the world. Freight rail transport represents the main kind of transport of goods and commodities in many countries. Reliable and safe rail transport needs such transport means, i.e. freight wagons, which allow to transport goods in various forms. While there are many types of freight wagons, they are usually equipped with limited types of bogies. The Y25 bogie is the most widely used bogie in the Central and Eastern Europe. This bogie has own specifics for which it has been used in freight wagons for several decades. The presented research is focused on the assessment of dynamic response of the freight wagon under the specific operational conditions. The freight wagon dynamics is investigated by means of a multibody model created in a commercial simulation software. Waveforms of the vertical and lateral wheel forces and the derailment quotient have been chosen as the main output quantities. The research has shown that the operational conditions influence the dynamic response of a freight wagon.
