The designs of spatial arrow systems with curved outlines, which Shukhov invented and patented back in the 19th century, became the basis of many modern structures. World-renowned architects use them to create memorable dominants of urban development, but the advantages of coatings based on such technology are especially noticeable when building in cold, seismic and remote areas. The design feature of mesh shells in comparison with other types of coatings is the maximum typing of elements and assemblies. Mesh shells consisting of a fixed set of standard rods and nodal elements can be transported compactly packaged, quickly mounted and dismantled if necessary. This makes them convenient to use in emergency situations, for example, in the aftermath of earthquakes. The nodal connections of the mesh shell elements are difficult and expensive to manufacture, since they require a significant amount of cutting, drilling and welding, which leads to a large amount of waste. The authors have developed a junction node for tubular rods of a two-layer spatial coating structure and made its model in the SOLIDWORKS package.
