Robotic Guided Placement of Extrapleural/Epipleural/Paravertebral Catheter
摘要
Effective postoperative analgesia is important to aid the patients recovery. The current gold standard is thoracic epidural analgesia but its use requires use of high dose opiates. Delivery of analgesia directly to nerve roots associated with the surgical site via the extrapleural, epipleural and paravertebral spaces provides a more direct route and, therefore reduces the need for high doses of opiates and negates the need for a urinary catheter, improving patient recovery times. We discuss placing these catheters and the advantages of Extrapleural/epipleural analgesia.
