Tightrope-walking Leadership: Flexible and Efficient Leaders
摘要
The chapter aims to discuss the possibility of managers controlling two contradictory concepts simultaneously, by introducing the idea of tightrope-walking leadership that seeks to balance flexibility and efficiency. Although this is difficult theoretically, practices and literature in recent years confirm that managers attempt to be flexible and effective simultaneously. Focusing on this complex-constructed pattern may allow practitioners to absorb it and then gradually adopt and train on it. The proposed leadership style may also be effective in organizations that need effective and rapid responses to changes in the competitive business environment, i.e. organizations in which managers need to manage and coordinate all organizational contradictions in a unified, rapid, and effective manner to achieve organizational success and excellence.
