In the “Fundamentals of Robotics” course we decided to create a teaching aid to teach PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, with the implementation of interdisciplinary relations in the teaching of PLC programming. The training aimed to design the teaching aid in such a way that the knowledge from interdisciplinary relations would be used as much as possible in its development, and at the same time the students would learn how to program PLC systems. We decided to design a teaching aid that would focus on the automated care of an African snail so that the African snail would survive without assistance for at least two weeks. Interdisciplinary relationships were implemented in its design and production. In order to create the teaching aid it was necessary to use knowledge from subjects such as Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. We had to design a system that would supply water to the snail, feed it, provide it with light and also water the plants, which will then be processed into food for the African snail. We also had to solve the human-assisted feeding, which was achieved by using granules that we created. The whole teaching aid is controlled by a PLC system that was programmed by us. Another aim of the article is to analyse in detail the educational standards of those educational subjects that are necessary for the creation of educational aid. If students or teachers of the subject Technology in primary school would like to construct an educational aid together with their pupils and apply STEAM principles in education, it is necessary to know in which grade it is appropriate to start working with them. In primary school, however, our teaching aid cannot be controlled by a PLC system but will be controlled by a BBC micro:bit microcontroller with which the pupils in primary school work.
