摘要

There can be no question that with the advent of DNA data, interest and success with phylogenetic investigations have mushroomed. Long anticipated, in the 1990s, DNA sequences and fragments became available, and during the 2010s, prices fell dramatically, allowing copious amounts of data to be obtained. To handle these data, new computer programs have been written for tree construction, to check for incongruities in different datasets, for tracing character state changes on cladograms, and for determining ancestral conditions. The age of bioinformatics was borne. Despite the earlier importance of cladistics with morphological data, it has now been eclipsed by the mountains of new DNA data and numerous new phylogenetic algorithms. A major new classification of angiosperms has been produced by an international consortium of workers (The Angiosperm Phylogeny Group) using primarily DNA data.
