This chapter presents how “sexual harassment” was constructed in the Polish lifestyle magazine The Mirror (Zwierciadło) from late state socialism to 2020. The introduction of this category reframed some behaviors previously considered uncivil or masculine as gender-related violence and discrimination, impacting the discursive construction of sensibilities to these phenomena. By analyzing the development of various types of the discourse in question, this chapter tracks how the patriarchal view of sexual violence as a rare and aberrant event was challenged. This process accompanied the expansion of the discourse on sexual harassment to incorporate violations in a succession of spheres—from sexual abuse in the family, through workplace harassment, to sexual harassment in public spaces.
