Telehealth is an efficient and effective method of care delivery that enhances and extends the reach of expert pediatric care. Though it has existed since the early 1900s, it was not broadly used until the COVID-19 pandemic. The rapid expansion of telehealth during the pandemic left little time for quality program development or adequate provider training and education, both essential components of excellent telehealth care. Elimination of barriers and restrictions that limited reimbursement facilitated widespread adoption of telehealth. Now an integral part of the pediatric healthcare continuum, high-quality telehealth delivery necessitates provider competency in best practices for patient care.
