Use of Machine Learning Algorithms to Study the Impact of COVID-19 in Surgical Departments of University Hospital “Federico II”
摘要
The SARS Covid-19 pandemic has had a strong impact in the healthcare sector, leading to a change in the management methods of the individual departments. The purpose of this work is to study how the parameter of length of stay (LOS) is influenced in the “Federico II” University Hospital after the already published study relating to activities of the Department of General Surgery, Day Surgery and Breast Unit of the “San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona” University Hospital of Salerno and the hospital “A.O.R.N. Antonio Cardarelli” of Naples (Italy) in 2019 and 2020. In our study, in particular, patients who have access to the surgery departments of the healthcare facility described in the period from 2019 to 2020 will be considered. This work used the various data analysis techniques on a dataset that included both administrative and demographic information of patients. The results showed that hospitalizations for high-complexity surgical procedures increased in the Covid era.
